As there is some words of wisdom appearing on the board thought i would add this.

as the older members of the board know, mortus illumina has been going for a long time!!!

all the shooting has been done, the last shoot was in 2004, but what is holding it up is the post.

and the biggest reason being is , I never actually planned the post production side, if i had even put a tenth of the effort into planning the post as one of the shoots, it would of been in the can by now.

and with hindsight, i think you need to plan your post with probably more detail than the shoots itself.

so to sum up, make sure you plan your post production.

the biggest one now is free time as a lot of people including in the post side, dont have to much of it at the moment and trying to get in the room at the same time , doesnt happen to often,

I agree with you as far as compositing goes, I should have shot certain ones static, and so forth. I'm curious what you mean too, though.

i would of got the Editor , Assistant Editor, Sound Designer , VFX peep all sorted before the shoot, would of had a edit schedule , planned like a shoot , a good way of going a EDL (still strugling with this area - any tips welcome) arranged fixed calendar dates, and as arrnged with shoots having everyone there for a fix time, whilst thats bit more tricky, would of least done a couple of weeks of full time editing on it.

In the olden days, ooooh about 15 years ago when I were a lad and edit suites were ?600/hr we did this thing called a paper edit. As the director, get your rushes with BITC then do a paper edit using the BITC. Then give it to your editor as a basis for the first rough cut.
